These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Readwith, a private reading room operated by Hemendra in India (“Readwith,” “we,” “us”). They are a practical starting document that matches how the product works today. We intend to replace or refine them with counsel-reviewed language as we grow. By creating an account or using Readwith, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1.Acceptance and eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use Readwith.
If you use Readwith on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2.The service
Readwith is a private reading room. You bring your own books (typically EPUB), read in the app, keep highlights and notes, and may Discuss with a per-book companion when credits allow.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We aim for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Availability may depend on your network and third-party providers.
3.Accounts
You may sign up with email and password or with Google sign-in.
You are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account. Keep your email reachable. Provide accurate information.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, violate these Terms, or create risk for other users or for us.
4.Your books
You upload only books you have the right to use. You retain your rights to your files. You grant us a limited, worldwide license to store, process, index, and display them only as needed to run the reading room and companion features for you.
Do not upload content you are not allowed to share. We may remove material that appears unlawful or infringing, and we may limit library size under the plan you use (see Pricing).
5.Discuss with your companion
Companions are conversation partners grounded in this book. They can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly phrased. Treat them as someone to think with, not as an authority, and not as legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
By default, companion retrieval follows the reading progress we record. That gate is best-effort, and you can treat it as a preference, not the point of the room. You should still use your own judgment about unread pages.
Discuss may use text and voice through third-party AI providers under our configuration. Reading itself does not require Discuss.
6.Credits and billing
Discuss uses Readwith credits. Free and paid tiers, rates (text versus voice), book limits, and soft stops are described on our Pricing page. Reading, highlights, and notes are not locked when credits hit zero; Discuss may be locked until you add credits or renew.
Paid plans and top-ups are processed by our payment provider, Dodo Payments. Prices may be shown in currencies we support (for example USD or INR).
Refunds are handled case by case. Contact hello@readwith.io. We do not promise refunds for unused credits or partial billing periods unless required by law or agreed in writing. Chargebacks and payment disputes may also follow Dodo’s processes.
7.Acceptable use
Do not misuse Readwith. That includes: scraping or bulk extraction at scale; probing or breaking security; harassing others through the product; uploading malware or unlawful content; or using the service in ways that violate applicable law.
We may investigate and take action, including suspension or deletion of accounts and content, when we believe these rules are broken.
8.Intellectual property
Readwith’s name, branding, software, and design are ours or our licensors’. These Terms do not transfer ownership of our IP to you.
Your uploaded books and your annotations remain yours, subject to the license you grant us above and to any rights of the original rights holders.
Feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
9.Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using Readwith you acknowledge that policy.
10.Disclaimers and liability
Readwith is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for claims relating to Readwith is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Readwith in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you cannot waive under applicable consumer law.
11.Termination
You may stop using Readwith and delete your account in the product when that control is available, or by contacting us.
We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. On termination, your right to use Readwith ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law) continue to apply.
Unused credits are not cash and are not refundable except as required by law or as we agree in writing.
12.Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Readwith, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise.
13.Changes
We may revise these Terms. Material changes will be posted with an updated date. For significant changes we may also notify you in-product or by email when practical.
Continued use after a posted change means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Readwith and delete your account.
